Egg Float Test
Are you unsure if your eggs are still good to eat or cook with? Try the float test!
Fill up a bowl with water and place your egg in it
If the egg:
Sinks on its side; it’s fresh
Sinks on its end; it’s time to use the egg soon
Floats to the top; it’s bad and time to dispose
If your eggs are floating in the water but not all the way to the top you may still be able to use them. These eggs may be a couple of weeks old and are typically best for making hard-boiled eggs. It is best to crack eggs in a separate bowl before adding them to any other ingredients. This will allow you to smell the egg and make sure it is still safe to use.
Try this easy peel hard-boiled egg recipe from the Incredible Egg the next time you have eggs to use before they go bad!
